Going somewhere that isn’t your’s
somewhere that isn’t familiar
Standing somewhere as part of earth’s tours
Hunting out everything peculiar
this is what it means to traipse the world
with thumb, with maps, and with baggage
You note in your mind how each sector is swirled
and you journal each zig- and each zag-gage.
Sometimes you will say, “we do it better back home”
and at others you will gape there in wonder
but the landscape and people and thoughts you’ll vacuum
if you want more from your journey than plunder.
