it’s early in the jungle — or perhaps it’s late

KARUM padum KARAK padeee

Something footsteps. Something towers.

I just hope it’s not coming for me.

beauty is largest, it frighteneth me

HUZZAH jajeckle HUZZAM jajoo

I’ve climbed its fences, I’ve taken a see.

There’s water and sky all swirling astrew.

the birds have told me, the mountains have shown

CHACHIDDLE, dynamma, CHACHOOTER drahmeye

The little ones suffer, the mud it rocks down.

And I have a bone full of limp in my thigh.

the Master is coming, his smile he’s dropped

CHACHOOM, papiddle, KAROCKA jajong

The sea is rising, but leaks in the middle.

A fire from goodness has started its song.

the cages they echo, the vine ladders snap

HAHAMSAW swaswaddle JAWNJOODLISH swip

The lions are restless, the gators lift tails.

And nothing drinks laughter — not even a sip.

settle down, I tell me, but don’t fall asleep

FAJUNKAW nuninkle FAFRAFFAW nainoe

And I remember the swears of a King

safe from water He keeps us, but not VOLCANO

If you paint for me even one thing which is true, perhaps I’ll be tempted to consider two. I tell tales poetically, someone else needs to set them to music.
